Gulf and Safa’s history goes back over 40 years, much before the emirates were formed. The company started off in 1964 as a small operation in Sharjah supplying milk to British forces. In late 1969, the company moved its operation to Rashidiya producing milk in triangular tetra packs of 500ml and 250ml. Yoghurt production was also started in plastic cups under the Gulf Dairies brand name. Likewise, Laban was also produced in tetra packs. In 1971, Gulf Dairies and Safa dairies merged to form Gulf and Safa dairies. Safa Lassi was launched in bottles and yoghurt in round cups. In 1974, Laban UP was launched in gable tops. The company won the first ever tender of Kuwait government for supplying dairy products to schools. Consequently, Gulf & Safa Dairies also started producing Labneh, Cheese, Fresh Cream and Juices.

In early 1980’s, Sterilac Dairy joined with Gulf and Safa Dairies. Along came the 40 year old Sterilac brand yoghurt.

In 2002, Long Life Juices and Milk were launched in tetra packs.

In late eighties, with expanding business, the company set up depots in RAK and Fujairah.
